The Province of Ontario has amended the Ontario Highway Traffic Act,
so that power assisted bicycles (e-bikes) may travel on public roads
and highways. Most cities and municipalities in Ontario allow electric
bicycles with pedals to go anywhere normal bicycles are allowed. Riders
of electric bicycles do not require a license or insurance , but are
required to wear an approved helmet and be at least 16 years of age ,
and are restricted to a maximum speed of 32 km/h on public roadways.
